Due to a variety of advantages compared to grid-based CFD methods, the ”Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics”(SPH) method becomes increasingly popular in industry. In particular with respect to fuel atomization SPH is superior to grid-based approaches and has successfully been used in recent studies. However, including solid wall boundaries at real geometries with complex shapes and providing initial conditions for SPH computations is still considered to be one of the grand challenges. In order to improve the eligibility of SPH for industrial purposes, approaches are required to overcome these issues. Even though a variety of attempts have been proposed, a general solution is still missing. Hence, in the current study a new workflow for setting up a bounded flow domain including the initial particle distributions based on arbitrarily shaped CAD models is presented.
