Abstract

The presented work is part of an ongoing experimental study on the interaction between aerodynamics and heat transfer on a film cooled threedimensionally contoured turbine endwall. A new experimental facility and two test sections have been designed and built for steady-state experiments. The first test section allows for film cooling studies on the endwall whereas the second allows for surface roughness variation on the endwall instead of film cooling. With focus on the film cooling case, an in-depth discussion of design parameters, the applied superposition principle of filmcooling, and rig capabilities is presented.
